Anatomy
What Is on a Rolex Receipt
Rolex does not sell watches directly. Every new Rolex is sold through an Official Rolex Retailer, so the receipt carries the dealer's name at the top with that retailer line underneath. What makes it a Rolex receipt is the item block: the model name, the six digit reference number that identifies the exact configuration, the case material and dial, and the serial number that ties the receipt to the watch and to its warranty card. Below that come the sales tax, total, and payment, and a note about the five year international guarantee. The example below is a Submariner Date sold in New York. Swap in your own dealer, model, and totals and it becomes a receipt you can print or save.
- Dealer header
- The authorized dealer's name, the Official Rolex Retailer line, the store address, and the phone. Rolex itself never appears as the seller.
- Invoice number and associate
- The dealer's invoice number and the sales associate. Fine watch sales are usually written as invoices rather than register slips.
- Model, reference, and serial
- The model on the main line, then the reference number, the case material, size, and dial, and the serial number on note lines underneath.
- Tax and total
- The subtotal, the sales tax at the dealer's local rate, and the total. On a five figure watch the tax line alone is close to a thousand dollars.
- Guarantee footer
- The five year international guarantee and a reminder that the dated warranty card is in the box. The receipt and the card together are the proof of purchase.

Lost Your Rolex Receipt?
Rolex does not sell watches directly. New Rolex watches are sold only by Official Rolex Retailers, so your sales receipt comes from that retailer, and the Rolex guarantee card is completed and dated by the retailer at the time of purchase. Rolex states that the guarantee card cannot be re-issued, so keep it safe.
